The Juniper School is seeking support for a fleet of 24 Strider AKB-Specific Bikes, helmets, pedal conversion kits, one Strider 20 Bike for teacher instruction, and curriculum.
"The purpose of this cover letter is to express The Juniper School’s (TJS) interest in
participating in the All Kids Bike program. At TJS, we provide a learning environment that supports active, diverse and authentic learning. The AKB program aligns greatly with our mission to get the kids actively learning through authentic experiences. With receiving the AKB equipment, the school would be able to host a fun event that the Durango Police Department puts on each year called the Bike Rodeo.
This event helps teach kids about general bike safety as well as education on proper use of traffic signs when biking. TJS has been around for only 4 years and we are constantly working to improve and expand our different curriculums. Our Electives program will benefit immensely with the use of the AKB program. Our new facility, which we moved in for the 2020/2021 school year, is an incredible campus for biking! We have plenty of space for riding bikes on both grass and asphalt. Our school is also near our local river trail which could be utilized for use of the bikes. The overall impact of this program will be extremely positive. The Juniper students will gain
valuable lessons and experiences on bikes while at school which in turn will allow them to take
advantage of the incredible bike trail systems we have in our community and beyond. We are hoping to get the kids on bikes by the beginning of the 2021/2022 school year. Thank you for this opportunity and we look forward to hearing from you!"
