Sharon F Delzer Elementary School is seeking support for a fleet of 24 bikes, helmets, kickstands, and curriculum.
The Sharon F. Delzer Elementary school in Estelline, South Dakota strives to educate and prepare each student with the knowledge and skills to succeed in a diverse society. Our mission statement drives innovation and creativity in our classrooms, as well as, promoting healthy play and exercise within our student population.
In our small school district, funding is always limited when providing new and innovative opportunities for our students. Our wonderful PE teacher is so creative in coming up with ways to facilitate learning in and out of the classroom environment that promotes and allows for healthy habits to be taken beyond her class. This program would give thirty of our students the opportunity to explore and discover the delights bike riding and benefits of exercise.
Estelline has a diverse student population, which in turn does not allow for many families to purchase their own bikes. The bikes that would be implemented with our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes, and would be known as the “Redhawk Kids Bike” initiative. This initiative would allow our PE teacher to work with students on developing necessary skills such as balance, rhythm, and conditioning and promoting fun learning in the classroom. If the Sharon F. Delzer Elementary school in Estelline has the opportunity to implement this program it would be a valuable asset to our students and school.
Thank you for your time and a chance to give our students a great opportunity to learn an important life-long skill. -- Tina Belden, Technology Coordinator
