McIntosh School District is seeking support for a fleet of 25 bikes, helmets, kickstands, and curriculum.
I am writing on behalf of McIntosh School District 15-1 to express interest in the All Kids Bike movement. The Kindergarten PE Program would provide a substantial positive benefit to the students and families we serve!
McIntosh School District 15-1 is located on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. We are comprised of one attendance center with approximately 175 students in grades preschool – 12th grade. Our school is a school-wide Title 1 school with 100% free and reduced lunch status due to the low socioeconomic status of our students and families. Due to these factors, our students have extremely limited opportunities to learn how to ride a bike, let alone have access to a bike. I cannot express the gratitude our students would feel for the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike! As educators, our staff understands the importance of educating the whole child. Not only does that include academic skills, but also social-emotional skills and the importance of leading an active lifestyle. This program would not only provide an opportunity for our kindergarten students to learn how to ride a bike, but it would also provide a sense of accomplishment once the skill of bike riding is accomplished! Since now many of our students have the opportunity to have a bike of their own at home, we would be humbled if we had the opportunity to teach this at school!
I appreciate your consideration of McIntosh School to become a grant recipient. This program would provide an incredible opportunity for our students that they may not ever have the chance to experience! We look forward to building a partnership with you! - Tiffany Assman, Superintendent, McIntosh School District
