Liberty Oaks Elementary School is seeking support for a complete Kindergarten PE Program, including a fleet of 25 Strider AKB-Specific Bikes, helmets, pedal conversion kits, one Strider 20 Bike for teacher instruction, and curriculum.

PE Teacher, Denise Steenstra , is excited to see kids rolling in the classroom soon. Denise says: "The Kindergarten PE Program provides not only equity, but accessibility to all children. It is an inclusive and progressive program where students can learn at their own pace. Kindergarten is the most inclusive environment, and the least likely to have disparities in abilities; any child who can walk can learn to ride a bike.

In addition, families with low socioeconomic status who do not have the resources to buy a bike, or parents who are working overtime and are unable to teach their kids how to ride, now will have this life changing opportunity in school. This skill can establish a way for children to bike to school or commute to their first job. This life skill is not only a rite of passage but a practical ability that can support a child immediately and throughout life.

Mostly, this program provides children with a new sense of confidence and adventure. Biking is a skill that can truly impact the life of a child in a multitude in ways. Simply put, you cannot get kids excited about outdoor adventures without providing opportunities for children to learn to love being outside. Biking makes this possible.

I am hoping that in the future we can provide this program to all students in Liberty Public Schools. Being a pilot program allows me to work the kinks out for others. Students will be able to post their progress on Seesaw which will instantly reach their parents. I will take video of the class and post to Seesaw, Twitter and the PTA Facebook page which also get seen by parents, community members/leaders and across the globe."

All Kids Bike┬« is a national movement led by the Strider┬« Education Foundation, Inc. to place Kindergarten PE Learn-To-Ride Programs into public schools for free, using donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations. All Kids Bike is on a mission to teach every child in America how to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class.
