Hillcrest Community Elementary School is seeking support for a fleet of 25 bikes, helmets, kickstands and curriculum.
Hillcrest Community Elementary School is a multilingual and multicultural school located in the south east part of San Francisco, CA. We are a vibrant community school with over 30 community partnerships with local nonprofits and city services to meet the high needs of our student population. We have 440 students in grades K-5, with bilingual Cantonese and Spanish tracks K-3. Our school is extremely diverse, with Latino, Asian, and African American students representing the largest demographics. Additionally 60% of our students are English language learners, 11% are students with disabilities, and over 94% of our students are economically disadvantaged and receive free or reduced lunch. A very large portion of our students are faced with incredible obstacles on a daily basis and have experienced multiple, complex traumas in their short lives. Many of them are not exposed to bike riding during their daily life, and their families don’t have resources to buy them bikes. We would love to be able to provide bikes and the training on how to use them during gym class. Thank you for your consideration! - Gabby Theobald-Anderson
