Garner ISD Elementary School is seeking support for a complete Kindergarten PE Program, including a fleet of 24 Strider AKB-Specific Bikes, helmets, pedal conversion kits, one Strider 20 Bike for teacher instruction, and curriculum.
PE Teacher, Holli Pontremoli, is excited to see kids rolling in the classroom soon. Holli says: " The purpose of this grant is to teach all Kindergarten students in our district to ride a bicycle. Strider bikes are a great starting place for children to learn to ride a bicycle and provide other benefits. While riding a strider bike, children develop and grow their gross-motor skills and learn coordination. In addition, children can use their new skills to help them transition to a pedal bike in the future. Children who learn to ride a bicycle can improve their cardiovascular fitness, improve endurance, and decrease stress. As an organization, we want to provide students with opportunities and skills that will help them become well-rounded individuals. We believe these bicycles will be a great way to work toward this goal.
Garner ISD will benefit from these bicycles by providing children with a fun activity they can do outdoors, as well as helping them to implement the aspects of an active, healthy lifestyle. Children who learn how to ride a bike will be able to use this lifelong skill as a way interact with their friends and community members while exercising. Children will also gain self-confidence as they learn a new skill which will help them as they continue to learn other skills."
All Kids Bike® is a national movement led by the Strider® Education Foundation, Inc. to place Kindergarten PE Learn-To-Ride Programs into public schools for free, using donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations.
