BMX Unify! Providence

BMX UNIFY!
Providence, RI
BMX Unify! is seeking support for a fleet of 10 bikes, helmets, kickstands and the Inclusive Learning Curriculum.

Trips for Kids Providence believes that every child should experience the benefits of cycling and outdoor activities. Exercise, fresh air, safety, and fun are the primary goals of learning to ride a bike within our program. For many of us, growing up cycling made every trip down the driveway, around the block, or with our friends an adventure. Our world became smaller and we became more aware of our community. Unfortunately, this is not the case for all children.
As parents and educators, we want to create and extend opportunities for adventures for our youth. Through our partnerships, youth become connected both locally and globally. Trips for Kids Providence provides the cycling foundation for youth by providing safe cycling instruction and then brings the adventures to life by leading destination rides and bicycling field trips as well as arranging visits from Professional, Olympic and world-class athletes.
What makes Trips for Kids Providence different than any other cycling organization is our commitment to making cycling accessible to all youth regardless of their age, race, or ability.  In this spirit, Trips for Kids Providence has developed the BMX Unify! Program. The goal of this program is bring together youth of all ages and abilities, including youth with special needs or who may be English learners, to become Bicycling Ambassadors.
This inclusive model allows youth of all abilities to train and play together as mentors and teammates.  In addition to supporting all of the youth involved in the program in improving their health, safety, and social emotional well-being, this inclusive model will also help all participants to develop athletic skills while forming friendships, and fostering respect for each other and building leadership skills that can be used both on and off of the BMX track.
