Albert Story School is seeking support for a fleet of 25 bikes, helmets, kickstands and curriculum.
I am a kindergarten teacher at Albert Story School. Our school is a part of the Milwaukee Public School district located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At Story School, our vision statement is, “we believe that providing quality instruction will ultimately lead to academic success for all”. Physical education is an important part of our student’s quality instructional day, especially in kindergarten. Young students need the opportunity to exercise and create a healthy lifestyle away from electronics. Biking is a wonderful form of exercise as well as a confidence booster to young children. Unfortunately, 92% of our students come from low income households that may not have the means necessary to provide bicycles or teach bike riding skills at home. If our school was granted a classroom set of bicycles for our kindergartners, we would be able to teach them bike safety and how to ride a bike, all while building their self-confidence at school. These skills would then transfer to their personal life and continue to grow throughout the years. Story School would be extremely appreciative and honored to receive the program from All Kids Bike. - Teal Kalunzy, PE Teacher
All Kids Bike® is a national movement led by the Strider® Education Foundation to place Kindergarten PE Learn-To-Ride Programs into public schools for free, using donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations. All Kids Bike is on a mission to teach every child in America how to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class.
I, James Scoptur of Aiken & Scoptur, S.C., am thrilled to be the first to donate to your school to get this program started. I am an avid cyclist and love the freedom riding a bike provides. Riding a bike allows you to be outside, travel, challenge yourself, and have fun!
